After featuring the rise in occurrences of invoice fraud only two Bulletins ago, we open our latest episode with findings from a new survey which demonstrates how this fraud is now grabbing headlines. The UK Finance survey reveals a high lack of awareness of this fraud and how it works. Could you spot whether your money is potentially at risk?

As the uncertainty around Brexit continues, we look at news from Barclays Bank of the launch of its Brexit fund. Designed to provide financial stability, the fund is focused on supporting businesses in all stages of development.

To round off this week’s Bulletin, a new commercial mortgage product has been released by peer-to-peer lender Assetz Capital. The mortgage has been crafted to address the need of commercial property owners and investors who need to move quickly to secure a deal.

And to close we have news from the Royal Bank of Scotland on how it’s going to signpost businesses it can’t help to alternative lenders via its new Capital Connections platform. It’s all part of the government’s drive to encourage banks to offer alternative lenders if they say ‘no’.

Business Finance Bulletin Epsd 107: Bank Lending Up, Crowdfunding Up… Just Good News

In this episode of the Business Finance Bulletin finally an edition packed with good news.

We take a look at the latest figures from the Bank of England which show an annual growth in bank lending to small businesses (but not such good news for the larger businesses though).

In the crowdfunding world an update from the Peer to Peer Finance Association confirms that crowdfunding had another strong year in 2105 in terms of money lent, and an increase in the number of private investors and borrowers.

Staying with crowdfunding, there’s positive news from Assetz Capital which has announced a significant pot of new money to lend out to SMEs and details of the launch of a new equity crowdfunding platform, GrowthDeck.

And to round-off the crowdfunding theme of this edition, a clip from a seminar in which Rob Warlow from Business Loan Services outlines the history of crowdfunding.

In the latest Business Finance Bulletin Rob Warlow looks at the announcement from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) that it will now be referring small businesses which it can’t help with finance on to crowdfunding companies

Funding Circle and Assetz Capital. This is a major sign that the crowdfunding industry is now going mainstream.
Another form of alternative finance which is proving popular with small businesses is family and friends. Rob looks at findings in a survey from Everline which reveals how many small businesses use this form of finance and why.

In the Business Finance Tip of the Week Rob shares a clip from a seminar he delivered in Amsterdam at a Kevin Green Advanced Business training weekend. In this clip Rob shares one of the reasons why cashflow can prove to be a strain for many businesses.
